Reflection on Audience Awareness

1. Linda Flower stresses the importance of audience awareness in composing while Elbow concludes that the question/issue with audience awareness is when. How would you explain the connections between these two points of view?

-The connection between these two is that both talk about audience and the awareness of having one. To Flower it is important to have the audience and actually pay attention to her and to Elbow it is better to ignore the audience.

2. In general, what have you learned from Linda Flower’s and Peter Elbow’s article as a writer and as a reader?

-What i have learned about these two articles that Flower's is talking about how you important it is in writing and reading to follow strategies. To her it is necessary to have the audience there and know exactlly what you are talking about. On the other hand, Elbow's talking more about how it does not really matter if the audience is there or not and that it is usually better to just ignore them. So in other words, to Flowers' it is important and to Elbows' it doesn't matter much if there is an audience or not.

Rhetorical Awareness

Q1. You are probably aware of the importance of Rhetorical reading thus far. I would like to know how you would evaluate your use of rhetorical reading strategies and whether you will have any plans to improve your rhetorical skills and what are the plans?

-I would evaluate my use of rhetorical reading strategies in the way that when i read i usually have to read it more than twice. I usually read it straight through the first time and if i can not understand it I will read it again and again till I finally get it. One main strategy I do is, I highlight the parts I think are important or the main ideas and then I take notes on why I highlighted that part. These are my ways of understanding what I am reading and will not have problems with it again.

Q2. You are expected to have a good understanding about Write-Based Prose and Reader-Based Prose and the difference between them lies in the use of Rhetorical Strategies. i would like to know how you would differentiate the use of rhetorical strategies in writing (from reading as above) and what will be your plans to imporve your rhetorical strategies in writing.
-My way of writing is a lot different from reading because when I write I usually do a rough draft and throw all my ideas in there. In high school I would do bubble maps and make a topic and put what I thought were the important things to write. In reading I have to read things over and over to finally understand it. I have to take notes and highlight important parts to know if what I am thinking is correct. My plans to improve my strategies would be to learn how to write better without having to do too much work.

123 REFLECTIONS SQR

1.) What were your concerns about in the SQR? What would you like the group to consider, respond to, or evaluate on SQR of yours?

My concerns about the SQR is the length of it, i think it is too short and can not explain much on it especially when the article is really long. My other concern is on how to write it and what information i need to put in it. I would like the group to consider that i write what i think are the main ideas and what the article is about. I would like them to respond to what i have written and give me their point of views.

2.) How did you see/ evaluate the comments you made on your peers’ papers?Honestly, do you think they were really helpful? (its of that you can say no. If that’s the case, please state what made you unable to provide specific comments as you wished. It’s important for me to know how carefully you read your peers’ papers and how did you work on commenting your friends’ papers).

The way i saw the comments i made on my peeps' papers was with the honest truth and my point of view. I explained my comment if they needed some corrections or just simply thought they did a great job. I, in my opinion think i did my best to help them out and if they took my advice or not, then that was totally up to them.
